WebbI used to have problem pairing the simplisafe cam when 2.4Ghz/5Ghz are combine (default setting). After researching, I was able to pair using 2.4Ghz successfully (separate the band), and then updated the network to default setting, which live view will still work. The same trick doesn't work for outdoor camera though.
